“Once properly trained, a man can be a dog’s best friend.” – Anon At Paw Manners, we believe this to be the truth. The most important part of dog training is that we learn how to communicate with them. Only then, can we expect them to be able to understand what we want from them. We work with you, either personally in one on one sessions, or as a group, to give you all the information, advice and support you need, to fully understand how your dog works, why they do the things they do and what they need from you, to help them become a well mannered, happy member of your family. Whatever goals you want to achieve with your dog, we can help – and your initial consultation† is FREE*

Having a new puppy is a lot of fun, but it can be frustrating at times. Puppies need love, understanding, and most of, patience. We can be there every step of the way; from helping you find the right dog to suit your lifestyle to bringing it home and helping it settle in. We give you all the guidance necessary for both you and your puppy; from toilet training, correct feeding and appropriate exercise to how to apply your family’s rules and basic obedience training. Puppies have short attention spans and tire very easily so we suggest a maximum of 30 minutes per session working with your puppy until the approximate age of 5 months. 1 hour sessions are preferable if you have behavioural or other questions that we do not cover during the “training” portion of the session. It is recommend with Puppies, that the whole family (i.e. everyone who will be living with the puppy) attends the session to be sure everyone gets the same information and all your questions are answered. Multiple session packages available and can be catered to suit
individual needs.

Once your dog has a good handle on the rules of the world (and your specific household), it is important to move on to the next level. Without proper lifestyle training, your dog can become difficult and uncooperative, leading to behavioural problems. Such problems often include excessive barking, destruction of property and household possessions and non-compliance in life situations (which can be detrimental to their safety). We can help you deal with these issues by giving you the information you need, to express to your dog what it is you want them to do (and not do). Some of the obedience skills we teach are;
